was founded more than two thousand years ago by Romans and, nowadays, is a
town with a vital centre where history,

 The
Dome:
it is the result of four centuries of work; its construction began in 1396 on
the ancient Romanic basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore that became
Episcopal site at beginning of XI century.
 Porta
Torre:
the most large medieval tower left. It is the central one set up in
1192 with other defence works. It has a square plant, 40 meters
height, with two fornici on the external side and only one on the
north side made of a big arch with four double overlapped
windows on the upper part.
 Basilica
di San Fedele
The basilica, primordial city cathedral, was built in the first half
of XII century on a previous VII century church. Its plant was
consistently modified, today the complex has a particular trilobata
structure. Inside it has three naves, Polygon Apse is crowned by a
lodge and has a portal with relief on the side. Church saves
fragment of XIV century frescos and XVI and XVII century paintings.

Abbondio
Dedicate to city’s patron, fourth
Como’s bishop, it was built in XI century where there was a
Paleochristian church dedicated to Sants Apostoli. Its perimeter is
shown on actual floor by black marble sign. Two bell towers stand at
façade sides that is framed by
lesene and monofore
with relieved frames. Internal there
are five naves, divided by columns and high pinnacles with deep
chancel. In the overtopped entrance lodge and in abse there are
frescos and decorations that show Christ life scenes, on the left
side of altar there’s Sant’Abbondio marble statue attributed to
Cristoforo Solari.
Sant’Abbondio Basilica is one of the
Romanic-Lombard architetture
masterpieces.
 Baradello
Tower
Strong structure built
overlooking city and lake, re built by Barbarossa at half of XII
century.
During ten years of war it was Como inhabitants reference but their
defeat caused city and fortifications destructions included this
castle. Tower 35 meters height, was stage of many memorable events
caused from Como and Milan competitions.
